Domaine de la Solitude (Pessac-Leognan) is located 18 km southwest of Bordeaux, near Martillac in the Pessac-Leognan appellation. The property has belonged to the religious community of the Holy Family since 1854, whose goal is pray in the silence of solitude. It has 32 hectares of vines in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. 25 hectares for the red (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot), 7 hectares for the white (60% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Semillon). The average age of the vines is 28 years old. In 1993, the sisters decided to entrust the vineyard management to Olivier Bernard, owner of Domaine de Chevalier, with a lease of 40 years. Following the example of Chevalier, Domaine de la Solitude produces grapes rich in colors and flavors vintage after vintage. The Bernard family have succeeded in revealing the qualities of this great terroir, making now some of the best value in the whole Pessac Leognan appellation.
