Murray McDavid Description
Founded in 1881 in the town of the same name, Bunnahabhain is the rare Islay distillery famous for not being powerfully peaty & smoky. Instead, it is seductive and fairly gentle in style—even at cask strength—as shown by this 15-year bottling that spent its first 11 years in a sherry cask before moving to a Margaux cask for four final years. Unctuous and full-bodied in style, it offers crowd-pleasing flavors of dark chocolate, jammy fruits, baking spice, and pastry with floral undertones and a very long finish enabled by the proof. Cask strength, unchillfiltered, natural color. Only 312 bottles produced.
