An ugly duckling at en primeur time, this has since blossomed into a wine that is structured, tending toward severity. Yet it also has richness in the form of layered black fruit, with smooth wood influence and tight acidity on the finish. It's a wine for long-term aging.
Wine Spectator: 91 Points
Rather briary, with an energetic feel to the crushed blackberry, loganberry and mulberry fruit, laced with bay leaf and iron, and backed by a long, perfumy finish that offers good latent grip. Best from 2014 through 2027.
James Suckling: 91-92 Points
A chewy red, with blackberry and blueberry character and polished tannins. Full, with a solid core of fruit. Serious finish. Balanced and attractive.

Following decades of mediocrity, this property has finally produced a wine worthy of reviewing. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, the 2010 (13.9% alcohol) possesses a dark purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of spring flowers, black currants, blueberries and damp earth. Medium-bodied, elegant and concentrated with more depth, richness and texture than other recent vintages, it will benefit from 6-8 years of cellaring and should drink well over the following two decades.Following decades of mediocrity, this property has finally produced a wine worthy of reviewing.
