A very vinous sparkling wine with a fresh and fruity character and lots of apple and pear undertones. Full body and soft texture. Serious.
Packaged in a transparent bottle and an easily recognized yellow-gold label, the NV Franciacorta Cuvee Prestige Brut is a blend of 75% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Bianco and 15% Pinot Nero. This is among Ca’ del Bosco’s most affordable and accessible sparkling wines. It offers steady consistency year after year. I’ve always loved the bouquet of this wine. It shows a slightly spicy side that reminds me of Christmas oranges nailed with cloves. In the mouth, the wine is lean and crisp with fine and persistent perlage.
Medium-dark straw-yellow. Sweet spices, baked apple and poached pear on the rich nose. Then creamy and ripe, with soft peach and citrus flavors that last and last. Not as fresh as the Cuvee Parestige disgorged in autumn, but a lovely sparkler nonetheless. Disgorged in winter 2017/2018, this is a 75% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Nero and 15% Pinot Bianco blend made with grapes picked in a rather hard-to-fathom 134 different vineyards! Spent 28 months on the lees.
Cuvee Prestige has a fragrance of toasted bread crust, apple and pear. The creamy palate has a great depth of flavors: Golden Delicious apple, lemon drop, honey and pastry. The wine finishes on an almond note.
